About Me

My name is Emily Firth, and I am a senior from Langley, British Columbia. My passion for horses began 16 years ago, and it has been the driving force behind my growth as a rider and competitor. Over the past five years, I’ve competed in various events, including horsemanship, equitation, and ranch riding, where I’ve developed a deep understanding of the sport and a commitment to the well-being of the horses I work with.

Initially, my journey began at the local level, but by 2021, I was traveling across the country, gaining invaluable experience along the way. My versatility as a rider has allowed me to excel in riding horses of varying skill levels and ages, always striving to refine my techniques and showcase the best in each horse.  In 2023, despite facing challenges with my show horse going lame, I persevered and had the privilege of catch riding and showing in all-around events. This experience, while not ideal, strengthened me as a rider and showman and gave me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and trust my ability to ride different horses.

One of my proudest achievements was being signed to Team Canada, where I supported my team in Bryan-College Station, Texas, helping us secure 6th place out of 17 countries. This experience, along with competing on the national circuit from the Sun Circuit to Florida, has fueled my passion and prepared me for the next steps in my equestrian journey.

My ultimate goal is to join a collegiate equestrian team where I can balance my academic pursuits with my love for riding, contributing my skills and finding a supportive community that feels like home. Beyond the arena, I am committed to volunteering and making a positive impact. My academic achievements reflect my dedication, and I am particularly excited about pursuing higher education while continuing to grow as a rider and a showman.

I've known Emily Firth for most of her teenage life through the horse show scene. Emily is undoubtedly a a fierce and dedicated competitor with a will to win and a work ethic to go with it. And, while  being an athlete and being competitive is certainly something Emily has, I'd say her deepest traits are her genuine character and sweet attitude. This young lady never ceases to bring a smile to your face, always showing interest in others and being more than willing to help out in any situation. I'm proud to call Emily a friend of mine and wish her the utmost success in all her endeavors.
